Picture Framing Classes
We are a local picture framers who have set up a workshop based at Scottow enterprise park (old RAF Coltishall) We have a fully equipped framing workshop where we can offer framing courses with the help and guidance of a qualified framer with 20 years experience.
Introduction to picture framing
This framing course is aimed at complete beginners, or people who have a little experience but would like to gain professional knowledge and skills in picture framing.
Classes will be held with no more than two pupils so there will be plenty of time for questions, we will not move on to the next skill until you have mastered the first. Alternatively if you master the skill quickly we can work at your own pace.
Throughout the day with step by step demonstrations and hands on practice you will learn how to do the following:
Health and safety of the workshop and tools.
Identifying materials and elements of a framed picture
How to measure a picture correctly ready for mounting
Cutting a single mount or a double mount, using professional tools;
Methods of hinging and mounting the art work;
Advice on how to chose what type of frame for your art work
Cutting and joining moulding to create a frame for the mounted artwork;
Cut glass and backing board to fit the frame
Fit and finish your framed picture, including, polishing glass, sealing the picture and picture hanging cord.
As part of the course you will find out about (and use) the specialist tools of the trade.
What you will need to bring with you:
You will need to bring print, painting etc. with an image size no larger than A4 eg: print, artwork or photo by the end of the day you will have a professionally framed picture to hang proudly on your wall.
There is plenty of free onsite parking.
